To adapt to social and economic changes, the Port needs enormous capital to develop the facilities required for an international distribution base in the 21st century. With a policy of maintaining a flexible financial structure, its budget is based on the following three concepts.
1. Improve international competitiveness and adaptability to the port distribution environment.
2. Ensure safety and security of the port, and protect the surrounding area from disasters.
3. Develop stronger ties between the port and people, and provide a better environment for work and play.
The port budget for fiscal year 2010 (Apr. 2010-Mar. 2011) was set at 44.7 billion yen, including all four accounts: general, facility administration, land reclamation and special fund accounts.
